About us

The Ballarat Autism Network

In 1999, a group of parents and professionals, recognising a growing need for education and awareness in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), formed the Ballarat Autism Network.   Our primary function was, and remains, to connect the autism community, educate and promote inclusion in the community.

We are committed to making a difference to the lives of children and families living with autism and to creating a level of acceptance that will lead to an inclusive community.  We achieve this by offering support, advocacy and information.

The network provides support to families and carers by providing them with the opportunity to network together, share information and provide mutual support for each other through:

  • social group activities for children and adults
  • parent to parent links through family social activities

We organise autism related information sessions throughout the year that are relevant to families and professionals .

We provide information on services and resources available in relation to diagnosis, intervention and community support services.

Today, the Ballarat Autism Network has over 600  families from Ballarat and surrounding regions on our register..

Our Mission Statement

The Ballarat Autism Network is committed to supporting families/carers of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through acceptance and inclusion and by raising awareness and understanding of ASD within the community through education and information.

The Ballarat Autism Network is a voluntary group consisting of a group of parents with a family member diagnosed with autism, and professionals from specialist agencies.

People come and go depending on their energy levels, commitments and availability so if you would like to be part of this small but dedicated group of volunteers, we would love to hear from you.
